PC06 Compressor discharge temperature protection

High severity Midea DLCURA ducted single-zone inverter heat pump (outdoor)

What the control is telling you

Discharge temperature is too high, so the compressor is stopped to protect it.

Applies to: DLCURAH18-60 AAK/ABK single-zone heat pump outdoor units (18K-60K, regular and High Heat)

Likely causes

  • Low refrigerant charge / leak
  • Refrigerant restriction
  • Poor outdoor airflow
  • Faulty TP sensor reading high

Test and repair steps

  1. Warning: Turn off and lock out power at the outdoor disconnect and wait for the inverter capacitors to discharge before touching the outdoor board or compressor wiring.
  2. Check charge and leak-test the system.
  3. Check the outdoor coil and fan.
  4. Check the line set for kinks or restrictions; check line length vs. charge (18K: 24.6 ft before adding charge, 0.69 oz/ft beyond).
  5. Check the TP sensor is attached to the discharge line and reads correctly.
