Steady Flash Hard lockout - control failure
What the control is telling you
The DSI module shows a steady LED: hard lockout, treated as a control failure. LED pattern on the DSI module: slow flash = normal, no call for heat; fast flash = normal, calling for heat; two flashes = 5-minute lockout; steady = hard lockout / control failure.
Applies to: Older Heat-N-Glo DSI gas fireplaces with RAM 1MC1-01/-05, RAM-1-RS, CFX-DA, Grand-50-C (120 VAC modules); LED applies to RAM 1MC1, CFX-DA and Grand-50-C
Likely causes
- Failed DSI module
- Wiring fault at the module (power, ground, ignitor cable)
Test and repair steps
- Warning: Disconnect 110/120 VAC before checking wire connections or changing parts.
- Cycle power at the On/Off switch and breaker and see whether the module returns to a slow flash.
- Check the junction box is grounded and the module and burner ground leads are tight, with no paint or other insulation under them.
- Check the gray ignitor cable and all module connectors for tight connections.
- Measure AC HOT (black) to AC RTN (white) at the module with the switch ON: 110/120 VAC expected.
- If power and grounds are good and the hard lockout returns, replace the module.
