Rinnai · Wall furnace
11 No ignition
What the control is telling you
The burner did not light. Code 11 shows as a dim flashing number. The furnace retries ignition after 1 hour; the code clears after a successful ignition and is not kept in the fault history.
Applies to: Rinnai EnergySaver direct vent wall furnaces EX08DT, EX11DT, EX17DT, EX22DT
Likely causes
- Gas supply turned off
- Vent termination blocked
- Repeated ignition failure needing service
Test and repair steps
- Make sure the gas supply to the furnace is ON.
- Check that the vent termination outside is not blocked (snow, ice, debris, nests).
- The furnace automatically retries ignition after 1 hour (see section 5.7 'Restart Function'). If the flame goes out during forced combustion it also waits 1 hour before retrying.
- If the code stays or comes back on the next operation, a trained and qualified technician must service the unit.

For licensed technicians. Gas, electrical and refrigerant work must be done by a qualified, licensed person. Shut off power and gas before servicing, never bypass a safety control, and follow the manufacturer’s manual for the exact model; it and local codes always take priority. HVACopedia is not affiliated with any manufacturer; brand and model names only identify the equipment.
