EE2 Pressure switch did not close (inducer runs, no ignition)

Medium severity Daikin DR96TN/DD96TN

What the control is telling you

The inducer is running but the (low-stage) pressure switch circuit never closes, so the furnace will not light. Flowcharts call this code E2.

Applies to: Daikin DR96TN (upflow/horizontal) and DD96TN (downflow/horizontal) two-stage 96% furnaces with 9-speed ECM motor, R-32 ready

Likely causes

  • Pressure switch hose blocked, pinched, holding water or connected to the wrong port
  • Blocked flue or intake pipe, or vent too long / too many elbows / wrong termination
  • Blocked condensate drain system (90% models)
  • Weak inducer (low voltage, failing motor)
  • Wrong pressure switch set point or bad switch contacts
  • Loose or miswired connection in the pressure switch circuit

Test and repair steps

  1. Confirm the inducer actually runs during the call for heat (115 VAC at the inducer during trial for ignition); fix loose inducer wiring.
  2. Inspect the pressure switch hose for kinks, water or a wrong connection; repair or replace it.
  3. Check the flue and intake piping for blockage (nests, ice, debris) and confirm length, elbows and termination are within the installation limits.
  4. 90% models: check the drain trap, drain hoses and front cover (coil cover) pressure switch - a backed-up trap keeps the switch open.
  5. Connect a manometer to the switch tap and compare the negative pressure with the switch rating (see the Pressure switch trip points table). Enough vacuum but switch open = replace the switch.
  6. Not enough vacuum check inducer voltage and amps against its rating and correct the supply voltage or replace the inducer.
  7. Tighten or correct any loose wiring in the pressure switch circuit, then retest.
