95 Compressor over current lockout
What the control is telling you
Amber STATUS light flashes 95. Compressor current kept going too high (elevated from code 49). 2-hour lockout. Type: System malfunction; reset: 2 hours.
Applies to: Carrier Infinity 19VS variable speed air conditioner 24VNA9 (AOC control + inverter)
Likely causes
- Outdoor airflow too low or off
- High superheat - TXV problem
- Compressor outside its operating range
- Supply voltage outside the rating plate range
- Loose or wrong wiring to the compressor
- Phase imbalance / leads miswired
- Refrigerant overcharge
- Damaged inverter or compressor
Test and repair steps
- Check the outdoor coil and fan.
- Troubleshoot TXV; check the suction pressure transducer and suction sensor.
- Check supply voltage against the rating plate and all power / compressor plug connections.
- Measure compressor winding resistance (between terminals: about 1.13 ohm sizes 13/24B, 0.59 sizes 25/36, 0.37 sizes 37/48, 0.24 sizes 49/60; over 1 megohm to ground - do not use a megger).
- Check the refrigerant charge.
- Replace the inverter, then the compressor, only after the above checks.
